theatreandbutterrox:
no, shaants almost making fun of people who believe in god. not in a cruel way, but he's just saying how can anyone be certain. i think he put the Our Father in the beginning as irony.
"I read of a man up in a room
Who can control everything I do
But what do I know?
What do I know?
And if the story of the man isn't true
Then tell me what I should do
Should I take off the blindfold?
Or do what I'm told?"
i think this songs has a lot to do with uncertainty. he goes back and forth questioning faith and god. and i think ftskatelyn explained it pretty well. but i think he's basically saying to make up your own mind, find your own truth:
"But we'll never know about the life I chose
I won't believe
I won't be so naïve until I go
Yeah, we'll never know till these eyes close"
anyways, this is my favorite song off the album. which is kind of ironic since i'm catholic, but regardless i really like it. it's kind of controversial, same with hollywood.
