It is thanking someone for putting them through so much that they have been driven crazy, as that is the only way to endure the pain (think Joker from Dark Knight). Personally, this song thanks all who caused me pain, as it is what gave me a better understanding of life, and now I feel I have it all figured out. I now enjoy the full spectrum of emotions, even if it makes no sense to enjoy pain, the very antonym of happiness. It's hard to explain the new understanding that I think this song is about.
