I think it's about his addiction, rehabilitation, and ultimately,...redemption. "You're already falling", he wants to give up and go get high. "Understand the voice within", that voice that you have to fight with in order to stay straight. "Each and every rising sun is greeted by a lonely, lonely one", for every one who rises up from the abyss that is addiction, another is falling in. "How many words have I got to say", and also "Won't you tell me again tonight?", seem like a twelve step program. (You are supposed to talk to the group about your addiction(s) and the pain you caused,...and suffered.) Also, the repetitiveness and the fact that it's "tonight", have some bearing due to the very nature of NA & AA meetings, the majority of which take place at night. "Can you hear the spirit calling?" Classic AA, more focus on spirituality than on a specific God. Believe me, been there, done that.

I just want to say that you have a good interpretation there. I haven't gotten addicted to any substances yet, but I am addicted to many things, such as the way I frame my world, interact with people, judge people and events, think and feel, etc. These things too are very powerful and can create a prison out of a life. In a way, I think physical addictions are not as powerful, and yet also in a way are more powerful. In any event, there is only one way to reach "Liberation". It is by...
