I think this song is about a really sweet, sensitive guy (aren't all Farside songs??) who has major lust for a girl but feels like he should hold back and not give in to his feelings rather than "relinquish his nobility". I feel like he is afraid the girl might feel used or that it might tarnish their relationship/friendship so he is bound by a "moral straightjacket" that he has created. The last lines suggest he thinks of himself of a "knight in shining armor" type character, and these were always gallant, gentlemanly figures; it may be that he imagines himself in a more traditional sense than most young people tend to live their lives nowadays, and not just give in to his physical desires but be strong and protective: "I'll patrol your backyard with my moral straightjacket". I think it's a beautiful, unusual statement of love, and makes me want to meet a guy like that... :)
