I disagree, I think this song is much more positive than you might think it is. I think the singer is talking about a girl he used to be with, they aren't together anymore and all he does is worry about her... but he has realized that worrying does no good (when you worry you make things bad) and that he could "feel responsible for her" but regardless, it would still be "worthless". In other words, her problems are not his problems, he needs to live his own life and not let her bring him down. I get it.
