Thank you for posting this song up! It's one of the greatest love songs I've ever heard. To me, this song seems like someone secretly confessing his love to a friend, yearning for more. Beautifully written. In the first part, Booth is sort of murcurial, expressing in metaphor that goal he has in mind- "Say those words..." brings the first three verses together with the plead: "Fall in love with me."
My favorite line is "Every move has been a subterfuge, while we pretend that we really don't care." I think everyone has come across a friendship where motives were carefully reigned by denial, or from fear of losing the friend. And Booth knows what's at stake but pleads for risking what we all ultimately wish for, a second half.
Beautiful song. I wish more people contributed their thoughts on this one.
