But I feel as though it's told from the point of a child with a negligent mother. Who probably indulges in drugs, one night stands, and isn't making any attempt to make better a life for her or her child. "I go up the stairs blind/blind stairs intently" makes me picture said kid literally going up the stairs, terrified of how he will find his mother, whether she not be there at all, maybe OD'd, fucking, etc.
"The song game of counting petals" makes me think it's probably another reference to Japanese culture, something chlidren do, and so it could be an irony or contrast of a happy game, but it also reminds me of the American song, "ring around the rosey, pocket full of posey, ashes, ashes, well all fall down." The ending of course, saying everyone dies.
