Chris Merritt grew up in Upperville and Purcellville Virginia.
He and his band Paperface moved to CA to try and make it big (they were already getting HUGE in northern Virginia and DC), but when they moved out there the band fell apart. Twice. Chris eventually came to hate it out there.
