It's not sarcastic, it's a fictional character. I agree (and also think it's pretty unambiguous) that it's about how a man is projecting his fantasies onto a woman. He clearly doesn't care about her as a real individual human being. He only wants to mold her into a role that fits his self-serving fantasy. That's kind of why he's at a peep show.

Compare this with his song that goes "You don't have to be my girl, you don't have to be his girl, you can always be your own girl." This song is the exact and polar opposite of that one.
