I dont think it's abotu self harm at all.
It sort of reminds me of bullying, though.
for example,
You give it. We take it. ('you'giving into the bullying, 'we' bully)
You build it. We break it.('you' try & stand up for yourself,'we' tear you down)
You suddenly erase it.('you' try to forget about it, erase it from your memory)
