It was stuff from the late 60's and early 70's, Found the commercial on Youtube with a list of the songs in the description - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKDk-mg1J9Q. If Frank was referring to this, then maybe it came "as a shock" to some people that an icon of alternative rock listened to all of that classic rock that many of the punks rejected.
