For me hardcore music is not epitomized by memorable choruses, rather a great breakdown is what I look for. Haste the Day's breakdowns do not stand out as much in relation to the rest of the parts of the songs (verse, chorus, solo, etc.) due to there being catchy melodic choruses, whereas if you look at a band like Parkway Drive
who does not use melodic choruses one can easily see why loving breakdowns is necessary to properly appreciate hardcore music. I am insulted that you think I only listen to music with breakdowns, because that would be very close-minded of me. I also only break repairable things.
