I think this song is about empowering yourself (as in inner monologue) or someone else to stop being afraid to be yourself, and if people don't let who you are then they can go to hell.
I also think its a shot at the recording industry trying to take total control over the artist.
I love Shinedown but I think their giving in to the recording industry as their becoming more popular. They manage themselves right now and if they sign to a big entertainment group like Warner Brothers, then their music/lyrics will be controlled.
