Amazing song. Definitely directed at a child, he makes it noticeable in the lyrics-youll kick in his butt, monster that eats children kick in his head dragons to ride etc. its said childish like he's singing to a child, lulling them to sleep. Its honest and loving and just all around stunning. I sing this to my baby boy all the time, and even though hes too young to really understand it gives me a feeling of confidence, 'the mightiest scariest creature is you' I want him to believe he's safe and this song accomplishes that.
a little insite into this, it was written for his son who was i think 4 or 5 at the time.
by the way the kid's name is Mars Rasputin Voltaire. yea no joke explains a lot about the nature of the lullaby doesn't it.
