Here is my opinion for those of you who see this song as being about marriage:
While we may feel at times that another person (significant other, spouse) makes us feel whole, if we look for meaning and fulfillment in them we are going to be disappointed and put strain on our marriage. I believe this is a problem for a lot of couples today. You cannot put the burden of making you feel complete and whole on another human being. If we are in pieces and go into a relationship with another person expecting them to make us whole, sooner or later, we will feel disappointed, feel like that person is not providing something that they should, and then you look for another person who will (at least temporarily)...
In my opinion, believing that the love of another human can be perfect and give you "everything" you ever wanted and needed is like believing in a fairy tale. When you expectations of this fairy tale going into marriage, reality will make you feel as though the person isn't "right" for you.
