First of all, I'd like to say good for Matty T. Secondly I'd like to take my own shameless attempt at understanding this song.

I sort of agree with MAugustineP and Chowderhead. But I think it's actually somewhat of a reverse. The band when they went mainstream got a lot of crap from CHRISTIANS for selling out. I remember being at Creation West just after they had an album hit the mainstream and they were thanking the crowd that was present for still supporting them because they'd been really down about how people were claiming they were rejecting the Christian market, and selling out, etc.

Also I think "the road" that he/they don't want to go down is simply further down the road of analysis and speculation of if they are better/worse so long as they're staying true to themselves and having a good time.

Essentially it's a response to people trying to critique them simply by saying they're getting worse, ot that they're selling out. Paying attention to the scene and herd seem to make it all a little bit worse, so he/they aren't going to, cause they're having a good time. And because each individual person is they're own worst critic he says "I'll be the first to tell you I’m worse. " But again, that's not what he wants to focus on, because he's having a good time so "but I don't wanna go down that road." he's not going to focus on it, he's not going to go down that road.
