^ I agree, he doesn't come across that way most of the time. I like him and he really is one of the better rappers around. However, this song is a different story. It is pretty whiny and ignorant sounding. It's like he's just being contrary to everything for the sake of being contrary. It's one thing to point out the injustice that there still is towards blacks but some of lines in this song don't align with that at all. They're just whiny and unnecessary. The complaint that the hip-hop industry is still so persecuted is getting old. Of course there are doubts about it considering its history, but the reception of it isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. And his complaints about Kobe, O.J. and Snoop Dogg? No one wants to hear excuses being made about guys like them who did wrong and were disrespected for it. No one wants to hear that they were unfairly accused just because they're black. That's such crap. No matter what race, if anyone else had done what they did, they would have been looked down upon just as much.
The dumb political statements in addition to all of that doesn't help any either. His remark about Obama? What the heck? Obama probably IS going to be the next president so how is he going to backpedal away from saying the "White House is going to stay white'? And people say that whites are the ones who keep dragging the topic of race into that election? Yeah right. Chamillionaire really isn't helping anybody by writing a song like this.
(Sorry, I never intended for this to be so long. Haha.)
First of all, Obama isn\'t fully black to begin with, he\'s black and white technically, so yes, the white house is still white and secondly, he isn\'t whining, he is preaching, there is a total difference. A lot of the topics he talked about in this song are still problems that affect not only African Americans but society as a whole. You guys think he is over exaggerating, when the truth of the matter is he is just speaking upon the problems we are still struggling with today. A song isn\'t supposed to "help," anybody, this song is meant to...

A song isn\'t supposed to "help," anybody, this song is meant to talk upon the extremely sensitive topics, that obviously people aren\'t understanding or looking over. And this has nothing to do with whites dragging in the topic, but instead looking over the topic and from what it looks like, not getting it. Oh, and yes, a lot of GREAT rappers talk about the hip hop industry being flawed or as you like to say persecuted, but he is just telling you the truth, like a lot of other rappers do. It isn\'t ignorant, you just not understanding the deeper meaning that he is trying to display in his lyrics. However, this was in 2008, so I mean, this comment won\'t really matter now, but I just had to reply after seeing this mockery of a comment. Total rubbish, excuse my language.
