Of course this is "obviously" about a car wreck, but Project 86 is a very symbolic and metaphoric group... They rarely write things "obviously," at least with their newer stuff. Their "My Will Be A Dead Man" song is "obviously" about an old west showdown, but digging deeper makes it clear something else is being depicted.

It's been suggested that it is more about the needless arguments Andrew Schwab (the singer) and Alex Albert (the drummer) would get in on their down time, told in the form of a car crash. Alex wound up leaving the band before this album was created.

xXx10290 has posted what Andrew Schwab posted on the album's website with the lyrics. He talks of pride, and the need for humility. Combine this with the talk of coming together like "magnetic fields" and how they "spent a lifetime on the beaches of Normandy in vain" [i.e., "spent a lifetime at war in vain"] and "what for [he] can't explain" definitely draws together this idea of two people not getting along well and that they eventually came at each other and parted from each other like a car crash.

Hence, Andrew and Alex not getting along very well.

But that is what some say. It may not be true, but it's a better explanation than it "obviously" being about a car wreck.
