I think it's about someone who is very depressed and who talks about killing themselves frequently, yet they've never even attempted to go through with it. they are constantly complaining about life and how terrible things are, when the truth is the problem is inside them. they have so much going for them and appreciate none of it. if they would just face their problems and change their thinking, they could conquer the sadness and live peacefully, but it's their choice to make, and no one can help until they've made it. but I think the end shows that they never made that choice, and instead finally drowned themselves.
