the first two verses are just saying, no matter what you do to put it off, you aren't going to escape the end. we're all just flies in a jar.
in the chorus, saline is used to inject patients who can't hydrate themselves by mouth, as you know. so basically he's saying again we're just waiting to die. and the moon goes up and down. daylight comes, and goes. and every day that happens, our lives get shorters, so the moon takes life away from us.
the third verse says that no matter how long we've been around, we're still going to perish as a race.
the last line confuses me.
"we'll get crushed by the ocean, but it will not get us wet"
i'd like to think it's about global warming, but it seems deeper than that,
