This one is about drug abuse leading to a relationship failing. I think...
The casting lazy shadows bit is probably related to weed, being chilled out and relaxed, especially to stop him thinking. Just to take everything off his mind and let him relax for a minute. However I think the shadows bit, is to represent something that passed a long time ago, both his drug habit and the relationship?
The thinking behind the relationship theory is all the use of 'take your money back' 'take it all back', this is the violent part of him. I think possibly on some trips he maybe got quite violent 'you've got your head gear on' could be a reference to her having to defend herself. Very crude I know. But thats my interpretation. I also think 'looking through last year though, but all I saw was you' suggests he's totally not over her and that's probably the reason his drug addiction is now 'shadows' as he's left it behind because he realises all the harm it can do? 'You're all I need to stop me thinking' seems to show how she could so easily replace the part missing from his life, that was drugs and he feels ought to be love.
Overall, I think he desperately wants someone to fill the gap that drugs no longer can, that might just be me though.
