I agree with the imagery being of a lover wanting to bring their lover back, but I don't necessarily think the person is dead. It could just be that the lover the song is being sung about has ended the relationship and whoever's perspective this is wants to go back in time and fix things in order to save the relationship. I don't know. Just an idea.
