A guy has fallen rediculously in love with a woman, but she has rejected him.
Now he's sad and depressed, and whie in his hotel room, he has suicidal thoughts, but calls the crisis hotline anyway.
He tries to call her, and he wants to think she's not home, but still lies the inevitable fact that she is not in love with him.
"'Cause either I'd bleed dry or keep this thorn in my side.
But I don’t mind."
He's in a lot of pain, being rejected and all, and it's like having a thorn in his side. He's got two choices, either to not give up on her(keeping the thorn in his side), knowing that she doesn't love him, or giving up on her(taking it out, hence bleeding until he's dried up of all blood), finally accepting that she doesn't love him and moving on, but with this big gaping hole in his soul.
I think I covered it pretty well
Oh, but the end of the song is a segment of something, that's backwards, I THINK, and I dunno, but it spooks me to no end. Like, anything replayed backwards spooks me to no end.
