... I believe this song is about a bad girl (possibly new to him) tempting him to betray the other TRUE LOVE that he feels offers much more than something temporary. Please allow me to explain...

-To anybody that has been in a relationship, they have experienced this temptation to cheat. He obviously feels inclined because he wants to "taste" her, possibly with kiss, but then he realizes what his impulses are inclining him to. . .
"There is another love, that I would rather be obeying"
-I believe this other one is the love he has been with for awhile.
"I see the ecstasy and already I'm anticipating"
-He now wants to leave where he is with this new girl and the thoughts of his permanent love is exciting him to go back.
If you ask me what was meant in the reference to the "angel" and how he was originally the one "praying," I think that the angel was sent to him to show him the path he should be taking. By the end he wants to help her out and this is evident with the lyrics...

-He now wants to help HER like how she indirectly helped him so he now refers to the two of them as...
"WE are the angels, and we are the ones that are prayin'"
One thing I don't understand about the song are the lines

I wonder if that is a reference to him finally having sex after marrying his own permanent love...
