basically, it's a poor girl with a lot of issues...she drinks, she's depressed, people love her but she still feels inferior due to a lack of self-esteem. She wants so badly to kill herself, whether it be 'accidentally' or otherwise, but when it comes down to it, she doesn't really have the courage or motivation to do it, she knows she would regret it.
