This is a good song and i got an idea of what its about. i think its a guy and girl in a relationship and the girl isn't very commited. I think they argue (things go crazy, nothing spoken) and she takes advantage of it by going out and doing petty singles activities (out there on the ice is kinda like saying walking on thin ice) such as a bars and clubs or seeing an exboyfriend during that cooling off period. Its tearing him up (take me down slowly) cuz any second the metaphorical ice could break but shes "holding on to what she can" with him and thats why hes the guy there for her when she decides to calm down. in the end i think its actually a warning from him that if she keeps it up he will leave her even if it breaks her heart.
