He's obviously gotten over her, at least on a romantic level, but feelings resurface for the woman and she becomes sad. Maybe she still loves him. But I always thought of this song like that... to have sad feelings creep up on you out of nowhere in such a happy, busy and vibrant place like McDonald's, for example. The atmosphere around you is so bustling and cheery, yet you've never felt so alone.
Yeah, it's probably a silly interpretation for a song with hardly any lyrics, and probably wasn't the plot Burial was going for, haha, but that's how I see it. :P
