Lyric discussion by MyWaveringCopaface

For some reason, when I first heard this song, I instantly thought of a wake where no one attended. Like the song describes the church where the wake is being held, but no ones there because no one knew the person that had passed. No one's going to remember that person, no one will say great things about them as time passes, nor will they know the accomplishments that person had made, if any.

The fact that no one came just amplified the fact of that person's death even more so.

"these wooden doors cracked and sullen, fat from their lonley years of humidity and quiet as the tree they came from popped the cork of a tragic day"

But then again, I could be completely wrong on this. It's just a simple thought that popped into my head when I first heard the song. Sonny's lyrics are so ambiguous now that he is doing his own thing. I mean, when he wrote for FFTL, it's meaning was somewhat obvious and you could immeditely understand its meaning, but now he really makes you think.

Sonny's a real, true poet.
