This is one of my favourite Neko songs too.

The hidden (dialog) final track "Tigers are noble" on the album seems to be a introduction to this song. Neko explains she saw a documentary on tigers living in captivity on TV... so the song seems to be inspired by something real.

I guess I once kind of thought this song might be an allegory of someone who once powerful and free but ended up in chains unable to defend itself... Things are bit disturbingly ironic that the "tiger"'s only fond memories - the woman that fed it when it was young was caused by how the woman was actually part of the evil organisation that keeps it enslaved in its sad situation.

Anyway, why does the poor tiger get shot?

There's such a sad tone to it either way.
