I got three opinions. First is an extension on what Drummah Boih said but, "When I go out I'm never coming home" means that the day a person goes to get a job, he will never come home the same person. He's a new person, motivated by work.
Second is that the whole thing's about nightmares or otherwise being scared to go to sleep:
Writhing in the old bliss/reeling in the sweet grip - having pain in dreams.
Your eyes are yours to close - someone is being tempted to sleep through trying to stay awake so long they've grown too tired.
When I grow up I'm never gonna sleep - childish thoughts that it's possible to avoid nightmares by simply not sleeping.
When I go out I'm never coming home - once the nightmare starts, it's gonna take a huge fright to shake yourself outta the dream.
Or perhaps, this song is about someone who is very close to dying:
