I agree with the previous posts mostly. I believe its him convincing a girl not to get married merely because it is the socially safest way to go.
I dont see the gun as a symbol of suicide, but rather of change. Guns are hot, fast, unpredictable, dangerous. However the cold gun symbolises none of these. Entering the marriage will prevent change, cause her to stagnate.
If she rushes into a loveless marriage, her life will fly past without her experiencing it properly, straight to the grave (identified by achforyou in the last stanza)
Basically there are more ways to live your life than the safe option, take risks, make changes.
