"Vanz Kant Danz" was originally named "Zanz Kant Danz" after the chief of CCR's and John Fogerty's former record label, Saul Zaentz. Zaentz owned the rights to Creedence's back catalogue. He filed a suit against John Fogerty claiming that the song "Old Man Down The Road" was plagiarising CCR's "Run Through The Jungle," a song John Fogerty actually wrote! So Fogerty wrote "Zanz Kant Danz"; the lyrics claim Zaentz is a pig who steals people's money. Zaentz then filed a 2nd lawsuit for defamation. He won, so Fogerty had to change the name from 'Zanz' to 'Vanz.' Zaentz lost the first case though, after Fogerty brought his guitar up to the stand in court & played "Run Through The Jungle" and "Old Man Down The Road," demonstrating the differences. Saul Zaentz is a shrewd businessman who bought the rights to the film adaptations of Lord of the Rings in the 70s. He sold them to New Line Cinema, who made the Peter Jackson Rings trilogy, and picked up $180 million without doing anything. During this feud he remained friends with the remaining 3 former members of Creedence, including John's brother Tom Fogerty.
