This was the song that first got me hooked on Nerina Pallot; every time I listen to it it blows me away the same way it did the first time I heard it.
I think it's full of mixed emotions...a sense of hope and an encouragement to keep moving forward, like foxufmu said. Yet there's also a sense of...regret? I don't know. The way she sings about the man who lost his wife and that love is just a requiem for the soul.
Also if you listen carefully in the background of the chorus there are voices singing something along the lines of "find your dreams/come true but/the one thing/I can't do".
