I'd say this song is about being unaccepted for whatever reason whether it be your likes/dislikes, how you dress, who you hang out with, etc. Treating others with kindness and respect, but others can't do the same. Helping others and in return being ignored. Probably also deals with being pressured into conformity, but people still not accepting you.
