i agree with it being about her marrying the wrong guy (in your white gown...going nowhere, you're going fast), but i think the "cold gun, in your wrong hand" implies suicide. she takes matters into her own hands to get out of her relationship with the wrong man that's going nowhere. this is her way og "getting it off her mind" - this is emphasized by the last stanza that speaks of carving her name in a black stone - her grave. the speaker, who recognized that she was getting into a bad, dead-end relationship tries to make the best out of her death by remembering the good times and not letting go of her memory.
