I think this is the "rock bottom" Alanis had said she hit when writing this album.
For me, all the quoted phrases are ones that kept repeating over and over again in her head "keeping [her] vibe down". This constant negativity she couldnt let go of and it affected her externally as well as internally. The last stanza seems to be a reference to a recent public breakup specifically, and how either she shut down so completely as to tell him to leave, or once again, these are just things she was telling herself in her head essentially blaming herself for the breakup.
I love this song. And I think the chorus is so catchy and beautifully sung. It's a nice contrast to the more techno-ish side to this album.
