This song is only part of the whole, the entire record. This RECORD is about how "mandkind is a plague" and must be destroyed. It has nothing to do with christianity or any other religion. It is a nihilistic world-view it portrays, not a satanic, occult nor even peganistic.
As far as I can see they've just chosen to use religious language to give the song and the overall ambient of the record a more solemn twist.
Of cause you will think that this song I about Satan, if you're a christian. And it is the first impression you get when you hear this song. It is part of their genius... And of cause you will think that this song is about how we should go back to the old religions and worship the sun, if you have seen the movie Zeitgeist and thinks that if it has been so much on your mind ever since you saw it, it must relate to anything you think about; even this song (there is some sort of logic there, but not a very good one).
Never the less, this song and this record is a nihilistic expession and a very good one indeed. Mankind IS IN FACT a plague and that is why "the donky-headed adversary of humanity" opposes it.
Here is what the song realy sais, without all the religious frame work:
-Mankind has been idiots for the last 2000 years or more. Their religion and their ideas has now become so corrupt that it now brings on their own demise.
The new "god" the song i talking about is the results of all our idiocracy, our pollution, our religious ideas that builds borders were there are none. The new "god" (to a nihilist an entity that will judge and destroy all mandkind is as close to a god as anything (something nihilist have in common with christians)), who, for some reason which at the moment is puzzling me is donky-headed, then approaches, curses the old that made him and then declares he is and must remain the adversary. He is in other words an anti-thesis of the old thesis. Then, in the next song, he has a trial where the scratchings in the wall, the lark, the trees, the stones and the flowers bear witness and he then condemns mandkind to death by worm, sparrow, eel, dog, sand, flower, water, stone, silence and sorrow..
Later on the record in the song called "bring back the apocalypse" we are asked to embrace this nihilistic idea and turn away from our pointless "progress" and machines and all the other bullshit of the "modern" world..
