I absolutely adore this song!
To me, its about two people who love each other, but just can't be with each other, there's a 'stone and steel wall' they just cannot overcome. I don't find it a depressing song though, if given the oppertunity to love, i'm sure most people would choose to. The rain, though, has an almost cleansing quality. When she sings 'rows and rows of big dark clouds' I see a row of clouds, but sun breaking through. It gives hope of moving on, but not forgetting the past.
