I think the first verse is saying:
Someone has died and whatever it is that the person died from is contageous. Drugs? Age? Conformity? Apparently the person truly died, because he's heartbroken: "How does this fit into God's plan?"
The second verse sounds like a controlling person. Bully? Abusive father? Etc...
