Probably my favorite Doors song. Its said Jim wrote crystal ship to represent his transcend into a life of fame and glory. "The Crystal ship" is a metaphor for his success, which is very like Morrison to be poetic. It's a sad love song, and to Morrison its very meaningful and personal.
He's saying goodbye to a girl that he has feelings for but knows wont be there with him during his career as a singer. He's telling the girl give me one last kiss because its the last kiss you're gonna get, and maybe one day i'll give you a call and we'll meet again:
"Before you slip into unconsciousness
I'd like to have another kiss
Another flashing chance at bliss
Another kiss, another kiss.
The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We'll meet again, we'll meet again."
At the very end of the song he tells of things to come:
"The Crystal Ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
when we get back, I'll drop a line."
truly a well written song. people can say Jim was a junky, Jim was a hedonistic fool, a person who lived life fast and died young... but Jim was also very sentimental an educated person, a true poet.
