its about the narrator (im guessing mike) asking some person about earth and the worldly desires of man and why he is embracing all the hatred and greed of the world. the roots of the ground live in blood is talking about murder death and more sin and how no one is awake to this reality. the panic is possibly the second coming but i don't really know, im just positive about the first part.
