An old example given by Kant: in full flight, and feeling the resistance against his wings, the pigeon can't help but wonder how much more quickly and easily he could fly without the air around him holding him back. Question: do we really have a solid identity, separable from our relationships with the people around us? Would I be "me" if I could be all by myself?
