"the twentieth century was entirely mine" could relate to titanic, being that it was one of/if not the most famous ship wreck of all time.. 1914 was the year it sank (20th century currect)

Hey, did no one tell you? Sunken ships belong underwater In their slow descent to the ocean floor They are so quickly forgotten So as you disapear into the night time waters How many will you take with you? ---this could relate to how remarkable it was that this ship remained underwater for nearly 70 years after it was sank before anyone seemed to give a damn to find it. how many will you take with you? -The sinking resulted in the deaths of 1,517 people

the next part : A diver descends in pursuit of riches As he drifts along your bow He will laugh He will laugh at the gaping void That was the cause of your demise He will enter to find there is no treasure here Just a hollow mass of waste and death

it was claimed that it was "designed to be unsinkable". It was a great shock to many that despite the advanced technology and experienced crew, the Titanic still sank with a great loss of life. The diver "laughing" at the gaping void that was the cause of "your" demise could be the simplicity of how easily 1500 people could have survived if one error was fixed. also probably making fun of the fact that the media at the time was so sure and certain of their creation that they had no doubt it wouldn't sink.

this is by term probably the literal definition. i wouldn't doubt that there is an allegory within this but allegories are interpreted by whoever is perceiving the song, by opinion, not necessarily what the artist initially put out.
