I definitely see this to be about friendship. It's so beautiful, I can't get over it.
To me its a friend observing another friend in a really bad state. And they can see that they're not being honest with themselves or anyone else. It's also really clear that if they just let go and be honest then that will be the ultimate release from their pain. And they just want them to hurry, because they're afraid of it getting even worse and losing their friend.
