I disagree, FilibusterMan. This is a cover of a The Smiths song, and as far as I can remember, "You Just haven't earned it yet, baby" was bespoken by one of Morrissey's superiors to him. Morrissey doesn't have great deal of respect for his superiors.
"You just havent earned it yet" is a type of excuse given to you when you try hard, and fail, as a sort of logical explanation for your failure; akin to "well you must be doing something wrong".
This song is also sung in retrospective from the perspective of a successful artist (today i am rembering the time), to show how wrong their bosses were in telling them that they didn't deserve success.
