I always thought it was about a woman who had been unlucky in love... I thought the song implied that she was very popular with various men, but the one she really wanted didn't want her, or had hurt her or something. So she wants to just sit and smoke and forget about the rest of the world for a while. She has already known the smell of love (i.e. what love is) a milion times before-perhaps she's had loads of lovers, but now only one flower (so only one man)makes her ill (with love). Maybe the last verse is like her saying that she isn't a good person (maybe she pushed him away?) or that she doesn't act the way she should but she doesn't really know how, so she's shutting herself away. That's my very very loose translation and interpretation of this song :)
