I think it shows kind of a message like... Science is trying to find all of these ways the world will end. Making our end come sooner and sooner. And it's making us destroy ourselves. And as there are now so many reasons to make us believe that there is nothing after we die it makes us fear our innevitable demise. Or something of the like.
