in my PERSONAL opinion... i think it's about a person who tries to crucify their beliefs upon others, and their beliefs are probably impractical and conflicting, hence a religious view like christianity. not attacking these people, just interpreting what i'm reading and hearing.

the opening two lines: "I'm the one you call the liar I'm the lamb who slayed the lion" is obviously about the narrator or warrel being different from this "martyr."

"Crawled upon your cross again Play the victim till the end"

i believe he's reffering to christians as victims who will wait for the end upon a cross.

"Remembering days we felt we were chosen Those were the days when the hunger was all that we had Can't take back the past, can't heal the wounds Noone can rescue your faded ideals All that remains are scars of a wasted youth"

and that's where my mind entirely changes... perhaps its about an older self reflecting on their younger self, and how once they saw how the world really was the grew outside god and the religion. perhaps the "hunger was all we had" was the emptiness which wasn't fufilled with anything "useful" so they replaced it with religion.

and the line about father's past/weakest cover is probably about how they were raised religiously and they feel they are betraying their family or father by changing it.
