I also agree, I think the opening lines are quite revealing though 'never picked only placed before doors'. I think its the portrait of a man whos never wanted for anything, who has everything handed to him on a plate and this mixed with his arrogance means he cant survie in the real world, he creates himself an island he cant escape from and like as Darwin says, he has to evolve or die, and elvolves into someone not as human with less sensitive skin (maybe implying he cant empathize with others)
