i think its about global warming
and how "we've never seen this kind of world, its a warning to us all", we should do something about it and prevent it going worse in the future

we, humans, have played the lead role to this destruction, because of our lack of education and ignoring the signs that have been there for so many years, and now we are too far into it, we know what will happen to our future, global warming going worse.

i think this is talking about, how when everything is finally ruined, there wont be any salvation and we cant save us from ourselves, because weve all contributed to global warming.
